Content Policy

Last updated · July 17, 2026

Homebase is a home for independent artists across every genre. This policy sets the ground rules for what you can publish on your artist page and send to your fans. It applies alongside our Terms of Service.

You must have the rights

Only upload songs, lyrics, artwork, photos, logos, and other material you created yourself or have permission to use. That includes samples, features, session performances, cover art, and any third-party material you incorporate.

Automated rights checks

Every upload requires a rights declaration: who owns the recording, and where the file came from. Uploads are then scanned automatically before they can reach fans. We hold an upload privately for human review — it stays hidden from your page, from Discover, and from downloads — when the scan sees signals such as:

  • A file sourced from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, SoundCloud, a download/rip site, or "found online".
  • A major label, distributor, or publisher named as the rights holder without authorisation on file.
  • Titles that indicate an official third-party release, a leak, a cover, a remix, a karaoke version, or a leased type beat.
  • The exact same audio or video file already published on Homebase by a different artist.
  • A rights owner that does not match the account holder.

Held uploads are released as soon as you send us proof — a distribution confirmation, licence, split sheet, or label authorisation. If you cannot show that you control the material, it stays blocked. Repeatedly attempting to publish material you do not control ends the account.

Fan comments are filtered automatically for spam, promotional links, and abusive language, and artists can hide or delete any comment on their own content.

Prohibited content

  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, publicity, or other rights.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises minors, in any form.
  • Content that incites violence, promotes terrorism, or targets a person or group with hate on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristic.
  • Explicit threats, harassment, doxxing, or coordinated attacks on other people.
  • Content that depicts real-world violence, self-harm, or animal cruelty in a gratuitous way.
  • Malware, phishing links, scams, deceptive support requests, or attempts to defraud fans.
  • Sale or promotion of regulated goods that require licensing you do not have (for example: weapons, prescription drugs, unregulated financial products).

Adult content

Explicit language in lyrics is allowed. Sexually explicit imagery, nudity intended for sexual gratification, or graphic sexual descriptions are not permitted on artist pages or in fan emails.

Fan email rules

  • Only email addresses collected on your Homebase artist page. No imported, purchased, or scraped lists.
  • Every campaign must relate to you as an artist — music, releases, shows, merch, thanks, direct-to-fan updates.
  • No spam, no misleading subject lines, no third-party promotions.
  • Always honour unsubscribe requests.

Impersonation and misleading claims

Do not pretend to be another artist, label, or organisation. Do not use another artist's name, likeness, or brand in a way that could mislead fans about who they are supporting.

Reporting a violation

To report content that you believe violates this policy, email trust@artisthomebase.com with the artist page URL, the specific content, and a short description of the issue. For copyright and trademark takedowns, use our DMCA process.

Enforcement

We may remove content, disable downloads, pause fan emails, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy. Serious or repeated violations lead to permanent removal.
